SLIPPER CHAIR - High-backed, usually upholstered chair with short legs, developed in America in the 18th century for bedrooms. SOFA - An extension of the armchair, less formal and longer than a settee. It was developed in the mid-18th century and became very popular by the early 1800s when it gained springs to aid comfort. SOFA TABLE - Long, narrow table with drawers and drop-leaf ends, typically used to store and use gameboards. |
